Visit Best Friends Animal Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is nestled in the sprawling red-rock canyons of southern Utah, just five miles north of Kanab (and the Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile). On any given day, up to 1,600 animals call the Sanctuary a home-between-homes. Dogs, cats, bunnies, birds, horses, pigs and other barnyard animals come here from all over the country. All of them are provided a safe haven where they find love, healing and acceptance.

Visitors to the Sanctuary are encouraged to:

  • Take a tour: Enjoy a guided driving tour led by one of our knowledgeable Sanctuary ambassadors. Schedule a free tour.

  • Volunteer: From socializing adorable puppies to tidying up rabbit runs to sitting with and talking to shy cats, there are plenty of volunteer opportunities at the Sanctuary. Sign up to volunteer.

Get directions to the Sanctuary from the Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile.

Please note: Shuttle transportation is available to guests between the Roadhouse and the Best Friends Welcome Center at the Sanctuary. Please inquire at the front desk.
